DPTC is operating in an strategically important industrial sector. The dairy sector is Ireland’s most important indigenous industry and plays a vital role in the economy.

The primary mandate of the Centre is to support the sector produce high value, quality dairy products, efficiently and cost-effectively in response to volatile market demands and within a framework of sustainability as laid down by national and international environmental targets such Food Vision 2030, Climate Action Plan 2023, EU 2030 Climate and Energy Policy Framework and UN Sustainability Goals. This ensures that sustainable dairy processing is at the forefront of our research.

DPTC has a unique position in the research landscape: it harnesses expertise from world class academics across multiple Research Performing Organisations (RPOs). At DPTC we leverage the multidisciplinary, cross-sectoral knowledge base and networks to address common sectoral challenges. We work in close partnership with industry to ensure our research and solutions are industrially relevant, and more importantly can deliver real and meaningful impact.
